February 26th, 2016

Little bit of espionage going on this week as Rob and G-Man decided to pick songs from the forgotten decade of 2000-2009. Though a twist is included as well, they've picked a song they think is great and one that is not so great! What do you think?

Rob

The Good:
30 Seconds To Mars - "The Kill"

The Bad:
Hinder - "Lips Of An Angel"

Note from G-Man: Rob, you're going to be disappointed in me. This might be a guilty pleasure song for me. Plus one of Canada's finest beauties Emmanuelle Chiriqui is in the video. I get it though, it was considered ear-cancer when it was released...

Mr. T

The Chainsmokers - "Roses"

Although a little out of left field from my usual pick, this song has been stuck in my head for a few weeks and when heard on the old radio I find myself turning it up.

G-Man

The Good:
Switchfoot - "Meant To Live"

I feel this song is very underrated. Released in 2003 on the album The Beautiful Letdown, it still holds up to this day. It's got that leftover laisse-faire attitude that the 90's owned so well, but with a little bit of an updated tinge. Maybe we've been living with our eyes half-open...

The Bad:
Jet - "Look What You've Done"

Yeah, nice band name Jet! And way to go ripping off John Lennon on this song!! Duuhh!! OK, I guess I should at least try to explain my self more eloquently. Never saw the appeal of Jet, felt there first song "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" was full of try-hard bravado, and a blatant style-swipe from the vintage era of rock n' roll, the 1960's. (Which was done better by Iggy Pop on "Lust For Life" and Jet ripped that off too!!) Anyone it started there and it never came back around for me.

Doug

The Tragically Hip - "Highway Girl/Double Suicide" (Live)

Dano

Tool - "The Pot"

Rob

Jimmy Eat World - "My Best Theory"

Mr. T

The Outfield - "Your Love"

G-Man

Tegan & Sara - "Walking With A Ghost"

This is a throwback for me. It came on randomly on my playlist one night this week and I was transported back to the early 2000's when I first heard this song. Short, catchy, cool and Canadian. So much forgotten music from that decade. Maybe a theme week is in order...

Doug

Kendrick Lamar - "I"

Dano

Butthole Surfers - "Pepper"

Note from G-Man: "Welcome to our newest member Dano!"

February 12, 2016

Aren't we all romantic??

Rob

Dallas Green - "Comin' Home"

Note from G-Man: Appreciate the sentiment...i am coming home

Mr. T

Neil Young - "Old Man"

Note from G-Man: Morning Show memories...

G-Man

Brand New - "Degausser"

A near indescribable song from a very unique band. The Devil & God Are Raging Inside Me is Brand New's 2006 masterpiece, a phenomenal effort from a band I once wrote off as a pop-punk Blink 182 clone. They really let the music speak for itself on this one, the album itself barely gives any clues as the liner notes are almost non-existent. This song just hits me like ten cars on the highway, then leaves me to die.

Doug

Avicii - "Broken Arrows"

Note from G-Man: Cool Song!

Some great picks this week! This is what Song Of The Day Fridays is all about..

Rob

Against Me! - "Walking Is Still Honest"

Mr. T

Van Morrison - "Dweller On The Threshold"

Here is a song I found hidden deep on a b side in my library. Just an overall excellent tune about a guy who can see a dream that hasent actually happened. Something I can certainly relate too. Have a dream so clear it's almost as if you've lived it.  Enjoy!

G-Man

Dredg - "Sang Real"

This is one of those mysterious tracks from my past. Sometime ago I decided it needed to be on my playlist but can't exactly recall where I first heard it or who introduced it to me. It's been a Subway Soundtrack song for sure and I even recently picked up the album it is from Catch Without Arms. Became an instant favourite.

Doug

Borns - "Electric Love"
