Charlie Watts Tentet

 Rob

The Police - "Message In A Bottle"

The Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter"

We lost a great musician and drummer. Rarely talked about for how great he was while just being always in the pocket. Never too flashy yet always the backbone to one of Rock and Roll's greatest bands!!

Married. T

Paul Simon - "You Can Call Me Al"

Note from the Group: Congrats to the Newly Weds!!!

The Rolling Stones - "Dead Flowers"

G-Man

Local H - "All The Kids Are Right"

A forgotten great song and video from a forgotten great band.

The Rolling Stones - "Laugh, I Nearly Died"

We've all heard the news about Charlie Watts. An unimagineable career in one of the biggest Rock Bands of all time. Sadly, this is the kind of news we'll be hearing more and more in the next few years. Hold on to these songs. Dive into them. Enjoy the legacies.

Doug

Kaleo - "Way Down We Go"

Dano

The Tea Party - "Black River"

The Rolling Stones - "Rocks Off"

Jonny HP

Boney M - "Rasputin"

The Rolling Stones - "Gimme Shelter"

Mike D

The Rolling Stones - "Paint It Black"

Twisted Metal Black was the pinnacle of gaming when it was released in 2001. And this song as the game was booting up is where I discovered The Rolling Stones, which in turn I then learned my dad is a huge Stones fan. Just being a pup of 8 years old, I would watch my older siblings play. For me this song will forever churn up memories of bonding with my family whether it be my siblings over video games or with my father discovering music.

J.B.

Cage - "Agent Orange"

The Rolling Stones - "Wild Horses"

Swarm Apology

Rob

Sparta - "From Now To Never"

Mr. T

Fleetwood Mac - "Landslide"

G-Man

Metalian - "Metalian"

Former Song Of The Day member Riiiick introduced this one to me recently. Bonus points 'cuz it's a Champagne song (Same title as band name). Bonus points 'cuz they're Canadian, from Montreal. Bonus points 'cuz it's kick ass heavy metal. Shyeah!!!

Doug

Jay-Z - "My First Song"

Dano

Fort Nowhere - "The Time They Are A-Changin'"

Jonny HP

Lily Von Stoop - "I'm So Tired"

Mike D

David Bowie - "Ziggy Stardust"

VAST - "Touched"

*LOST PICK*

Visual Audio Sensory Theatre is the brain child of a young musical savant. At 13 this kid was light years ahead in his theory and experimentation. He samples most of his own instruments but in this track he loops some lovely singers from Bulgaria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZ4LCejQg8o I guess you could call this an unintentional two-fer!

Ancient Future

Rob

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Warlocks"

Mr. T

Bruce Springsteen - "Thundercrack"

G-Man

Big Wreck - "Ought To Be"

Hey look some new music from 2021 that isn't crap! Good to see Big Wreck still plowing ahead!

Doug

Duncan Laurence - "Arcade"

Dano

Big Data - "Dangerous"

Jonny HP

The Struts - "Could Have Been Me"

Mike D

The Used - "Pretty Handsome Awkward"

J.B.

Dan E O - "Dear Hip Hop"

Scarborough Native. Dan E O has some great chill beats behind a wicked amount of lyrical mayhem. "Dear Hip Hop" is considered his blessing and his curse. Originally making it on rotation during Master T's Rap Essentials (circa late 90's). It launched a career that spanned 5 albums and multiple collaborations. However, it also made Dan E O too well known for this one track. Either way check him out and you'll find some material worth revisiting multiple times.

The Merciful Rich

Rob

Dave Matthews Band - "Granny"

Mr. T

Neville Brothers - "Yellow Moon"

G-Man

Misfits - "Walk Among Us"

Walk Among Us was also the name of the first album released by the first incarnation of The Misfits. Though it wasn't the first album recorded, believe it or not, it wasn't easy for punk bands to easily record and release albums back in the late 70's early 80's. This song however comes from the second version of the famous punk band with Michale Graves on lead vocals. I like the choice for Graves to replace Danzig when the band reformed. Not a Danzig clone, Graves really brought his own flare to the band. This song is obviously a nod to the Misfits' earlier days

Doug

Patrick Lentz - "In My Head"

Dano

The Last Gang - "Noise Noise Noise"

Note from G-Man: "Is this really a Dano pick?"

Jonny HP

Bad Religion - "New Dark Ages"

Mike D

Glass Animals - "Heat Waves"

J.B.

Lo Down - "Mad Fright Night"

Something about listening to 90s NYC Hip Hop that really puts an exclamation point on how good it was, and still is. Hard to believe how far the sound has come. Happy Friday y'all!
