Songs of the Deep Freeze

Looks like Rob and Jonny are still frozen...maybe some music will help them thaw out

Rob

TBD

Mr. T

Bag Raiders - "Shooting Stars"

G-Man

MC Chris - "IG-88"

Recently saw the new Star Wars movie. This isn't a Star Wars blog so I won't launch into a lengthy review, but it got the juices flowing enough for me to want to pick a song inspired by that Galaxy far, far away...

Doug

Flowers of Evil - "Introvert"

Nothing to do with Star Wars and nothing to do with the New Year. Just a catchy little diddy I heard the other day

Dano

Mark Knopfler - "Baloney Again"

Mark Knopfler - "El Macho"

Holy Dayz and Not So Silent Nights

Red Nose Rob

Bob Dylan - "Must Be Santa"

Mr. T

Bhi Bhiman - "Guttersnipe"

Garland Man

Queen - "Radio Gaga"

I'm picking this song by Queen after seeing their performance of it from the 1985 Benefit Concert Live Aid. Queen's heyday was definitely behind them and even the band was uncertain about doing a festival style concert. What followed was one of the most memorable performances by the band. Freddie Mercury gave the show of his lifetime and effortless had the crowd in the palm of his hand, many of which weren't even there to see Queen. It's considered the show that brought on the resurgence of the band's popularity.

Revenge Of The Egg People - "Seasons Greetings Felony"

And just because we're close to Christmas...

EggDoug

Zooey Deschanel & Leon Redbone - "Baby, It's Cold Outside"

DanSnow

MSTRKRFT - "Fist Of God"

Alex Lifeson - "The Drummer Boy"

Jonny HP

Eminem - "Lose Yourself"

Christmas Is Creepin' In...

Rob

Matthew Good Band - "Strange Days"

Mr. Tanenbaum

Bruce Springsteen - "Merry Christmas Baby"

J. Giels Band - "Whammer Jammer"

Garland-Man

Hawksley Workman - "The Coldest Night Of The Year"

This one walks the fine line of being a Christmas song, it was included on Hawksley Workman's Christmas themed album Full Moon Eleven back in 2011. Though it's a cover of a Bruce Cockburn song which wasn't intended to be used for the holidays. It fits perfectly this time of yea though, not really happy nor sad. More introspective and isolated. Deep in self reflection among the happy masses.

Doug

Ben Folds Five - "Brick"

One of my favourite Xmas songs ;)

Dano

Estas Tonne & Reka Fodor - "Timeless Burn Out"

Jonny HP

Jimmy Eat World - "If You Don't, Don't"

And If We Were Songs...

It's the second week of December so we've opened it up to the lads this week. Pick a Christmas/Holiday song if you'd like. Nothing written in stone. Let's see what we got

Rob

Eve 6 - "Inside Out"

Merry T

Darlene Love - "All Alone On Christmas"

G-Man

Stone Sour - "Through Glass"

Still had a few tunes in the chamber to get through before dealing out the Christmas Cards. Maybe next week. Stone Sour is touch and go with me, i'm a huge Slipknot fan and think Corey Taylor is great. Come What(ever) May is a solid album. Got some gems

Baroness - "March To The Sea"

Thanks for introducing me to these guys Dano. I'm having a blast digging through their first 4 albums. I have a feeling i'll be hearing Purple in the near future.

Doug

U2 - "Vertigo"

Dano

Peter Gabriel - "Solsbury Hill"

Jonny HP

Courtney Barnett - "Pedestrian At Best"
