Whether you were a fan of his music or any of his bands there is no denying that Chris Cornell permeated your life at one point or another. "Black Hole Sun" has been played at least once a day on rock radio since it was released back in 1994. He's had an extensive solo career and been a part of other bands like Audioslave and Temple Of The Dog. The news of his suicide yesterday has saddened and baffled music lovers worldwide. We here at Song Of The Day Fridays are no exception. There was no rule to pick a Chris Cornell song this week, so we'll see if any or all us did. RIP Chris Cornell.
Rob Audioslave - "Cochise"
Jimmy Eat World - "23"
Mr. T Dan Farber - "Smoke That"
G-Man Chris Cornell - "You Know My Name"
Wasn't the biggest Soundgarden fan, but knew Cornell was very talented. This is my absolute favourite song he ever did. He had a great voice and an obvious love of music and performing. I he found whatever peace he felt was missing in his life. The theme song for Casino Royale back in 2005. The best Bond theme song.
Rise Against - "Satellite"
If the lead singer of Rise Against passes away I doubt the rock world will be as shook as it was today, which is a shame. The last 15 or so years Rise Against has released consistent and important hard rock music. Started as a fringe punk band and now can sell out stadiums. This is a newer song by them that I can't get out of my head.
Mr. T Rod Stewart - "The Motown Song" feat. The Temptations
G-Man The Foundations - "Baby, Now That I've Found You"
It appears Mr. T and I were on the same wavelength tonight. I love Motown music. It can genuinely put me in a better mood simply by listening. The world would be better if everyone listened to Motown once a day
