Blog's Up

So long and thanks for the fishes...

Mr. T

Joe Walsh - "Life's Been Good"

I'm throwing another Joe Walsh song to take this back to the beginning. Then I might close it out, just like the Sopranos did...

Journey - "Don't Stop Believin'"

G-Man

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "Storm"

Though it may not seem like it, I might miss this thing the most. There are ten years of amazing songs to look back on, many of those picked by the other lads have become absolute staples in my listening routine. I hope some of mine have too. Was trying to pick just the right song to end on and thought a piece by GY!BE would be fitting....only to realize it's one of the longest pieces i've ever picked. Maybe deep down i'm trying to prolong the end. Thanks to all the lads week after week. Thanks to those who stopped by. Keep the tunes spinning. Keep spreading the joy through music. Anyway. Anyhow. So long. G-man out

Doug

The Tragically Hip - "Nautical Disaster"

Dano

Peter Gabriel - "Solsbury Hill"

Thanks G-Man. Thanks Lads.

Jonny HP

Frank Turner - "Polaroid Picture"

Mike D

J.B.

Was definitely a great run! Lots of new music I got experience and felt like I was apart of a great little community!

2nd last week...

Mr. T

Joe Walsh - "In The City"

Some of you may not know how we started SOTDF but back mine and G-Man's OFS days with our former member Rob, we used to simply toss our Song of the Day out in between customers. My first pick back then was a Joe Walsh song, one of my guitar heroes. Which song, I don't recall, but my Second last SOTD is also a Joe Walsh song, "In The City".

Note From G-Man: "Impressed you remember the pick from the pre-blog days!"

G-Man

Metallica - "No Leaf Clover"

Y'all had to know Metallica was going to show up among these few final weeks. Always felt there was an epic finality to this song. It could play while marching off to your last stand in a battle, or to pump you up for the second half of game 7. I may not be acting like it, but I will miss this blog a little bit.

Doug

Avicii - "Levels"

Dano

Avicii - "The Nights"

G-Man

The Unfaithful Ways - "Won't You Watch Her Lillies Grow"

Led by Marlon Williams, these guys got their start in New Zealand. I'm not usually big on this style of, revivalist, old school type folky music, but this song really hit me as I sat alone in the gym the other day.

Doug

Arrested Development - "Everyday People"

Dano

The Avalanches - "Since I Left You"

Jonny HP

The Blues Brothers - "Sweet Home Chicago"

 Mr. T

David and David - "Welcome To Boomtown"

G-Man

The Cardigans - "Erase/Rewind"

Theses guys came on the radio randomly while I was in Toronto over New Years, not this song, but not "Lovefool" either. Made me think of this banger of a track. Takes me immediately back to 2006, when I was introduced to a flood of great tunes new and old that I previously hadn't had the chance to experience.
