5 Fridays in March buds!!! Let's see what the lads have in store for us tonight!!
Rob TBD Mr. T Steve Hill - "Out Of Phase"
G-Man Metallica - "Bleeding Me"
Underrated song from an underrated album. This song spent most of today in my head. Especially the "I can't take it...." part
Doug Chance The Rapper - "All Night"
Dano Left Hand George - "Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band"
Rob 30 Seconds To Mars - "Closer To The Edge (Acoustic)"
Mr. T Los Fabulosos Cadillacs - "Mal Bicho"
The Irish Rovers - "Black Velvet Band"
G-Man R.E.M - "Time After Time (annElise)" This is an ancient track off their second album Reckoning. It reminds me of how great a band R.E.M really was.
The Real McKenzies - "Chip" And just because it's St. Patrick's Day....
He have had our first reader request here at Song Of The Day Fridays. One of our loyal readers suggested that we look back at one of our more formative decades and pick some terrible songs from the 1990's. Let's see what the lads came up with...
Radical Rob LFO - "Summer Girls"
Mr. Tubular T B*Witched - "C'est La Vie"
The Bahamen - "Who Let The Dogs Out?" Note From G-Man: I think Mr. T is aware that this came out in 2000, but I think it was a hit in the Caribbean a few years before that...so let's count it
Gnarly G-Man Ashley MacIsaac - "I'm Movin' On"
Just don't know what he was trying to do with this one. I enjoyed his previous stuff too, so this one is a real shame. As a sad side note I think MacIsaac went bankrupt around the time this was released too and he was so desperate for Much Music to play the video that he called in during their request show to request it. Shake my head
Crash Test Dummies - "Keep A Lid On Things"
Another one by a previously great artist. I guess this one isn't THAT terrible, but if I had to hear this everyday I would rage.
A few honourable mentions here:
Jimmy Ray - "Are You Jimmy Ray?"
The Moffats - "I'll Be There For You"
Serial Joe - "Skidrow"
Van Halen - "Humans Being"
AC/DC - "Stiff Upper Lip"
Dude-ish Doug Gerardo - "Rico Suave"
"Don't Go There" Dano Soul Asylum - "Runaway Train"
G-Man The Offspring - "Want You Bad"
Yes there was some great music in the oft-forgotten decade of the Aughts and I intend to highlight some in the coming weeks. The Offspring's sound changed a bit from what they became to known for on albums like Smash and Ignition, but it doesn't mean the music wasn't good. Like "Want You Bad" from Conspiracy Of One.
