Cellar Door

Rob

Our Lady Peace - "Not Enough"

Mr. T

Geordie Kieffer - "Red Line"

G-Man

Skunk Anansie - "Weak"

I feel like back 1996 I made a note to my self to check out some songs by this band, as they seemed like one that deserved a deep dive and the type of band that i'd enjoy. Well 25 years later and I finally got around to following through on that and 15 year old me was right

Doug

Billy Joel - "She's Always A Woman"

Both of these songs have been stuck in my head all week, so I feel I must submit them together

Jim Croce - "Operator (That's Not The Way It Feels)"

Dano

The Trishas - "Little Sweet Cigars"

Jonny HP

Beach Boys - "Good Vibrations"

Mike D

Assuming We Survive - "Open Water"

J.B.

Coolio - "Fantastic Voyage"

Nothing makes you feel more nostalgic, if you were lucky enough to be around during the golden age of 90's Hip Hop and if  you weren't, it's still a good all around track.  I put this sweet jam on and it really picked my sorry ass up off the floor. Happy Friday feels, folks!

Poor Tithonus

Rob

Fall Out Boy - "Of All The Gin Joints In All The World"

Mr. T

Sammy Johns - "Chevy Van"

G-Man

The Cranberries - "Free To Decide"

This song has been in my head a bit lately. Not exactly sure why. It was definitely one of the videos in heavy rotation back when I was first getting into music into 1996. Memories of those times, that Summer in particular, are always welcome. RIP Dolores O'Riordan

Doug

Michel Buble - "Love You Anymore"

Dano

Puscifer - "Bedlamite"

Jonny HP

David Bowie - "I'm Afraid Of Americans"

Mike D

Incubus - "Pardon Me"

The Fratellis - "Doginabag"

J.B.

The Kids In The Hall - "Daves I Know"

Sometimes we have a certain song that really brings things home for us. Maybe it's a song that was playing for your first dance with a girl. Maybe a first anything? Well....this one's for all the Dave's out there

Step Through Grey

Rob

Broadway - "Gods and Men"

Mr. T

The Emotions - "The Best Of My Love"

G-Man

Stone Poneys - "Different Drum"

The evolution of music has always interested me. I started sifting through major and minor hits from the 60's to kind of get a grip on Pop and Rock's roots and DAMN there are some gems I forgot about! Take the Stone Poneys for example, timeless music with brilliant yet simple lyrics. And how gorgeous is Linda Ronstadt here?

The Four Seasons - "Beggin'"

And this one is just one of the absolute best from the 60's. Feels like it was way ahead of it's time. One of those songs that makes you time travel, sit back with a drink and turn off the rest of the world

Doug

Mos Def - "Sunshine"

Dano

Tears For Fears - "Shout"

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

Disturbed - "Shout 2000"

J.B.

Barnes & Barnes - "Fish Heads"

Alright now, before you ask me, "JB, what the literal fuck?". I thought to myself, this song is kind of timeless. With the world being weird , awkward and pretty crazy right now, what better way to sort of celebrate and make the times a little lighter. Also, fun fact, none other than Bill Paxton directed this 1980 smash. He even appears in the video. Enjoy the soup.

The Other Side Of Same

I'm sure most of you heard about a certain situation in a certain unnamed country not far from here. While there was no pre-planned organization on our part, some of the Song Of The Day members seem to be picking songs inspired by the aforementioned events...

Rob

Rage Against The Machine - "Year Of Tha Boomerang"

Mr. T

Soggy Bottom Boys - "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow"

G-Man

Bad Religion - "Watch It Die"

Just makes you shake your head in permanent bewilderment. I got to thinking where are all the protest songs about this fool? And all the foolishness that get left in his wake? I'm sure Bad Religion or Pearl Jam are working on something. So in that vein, here's a fitting song that features both as Eddie Vedder sings the second verse here

Doug

James TW - "When You Love Someone"

Dano

Larkin Poe - "Blue Ridge Mountain"

Larkin Poe - "Easy Street"

Jonny HP

Slipknot - "All Hope Is Gone"

The Bravery - "Believe"

Mike D

The Record Company - "Off The Ground"

J.B.

Laurie Anderson - "O Superman"

I'm not going to get into too much, but wow.....found this gem at the suggestion of a friend. Original synth experimentation and way ahead of it's time
