Van Morrison - "Astral Weeks"

Fugazi - "Styrofoam"

The majority of us here at Song Of The Day reside in the Ottawa area. With the recent and on-going events taking their toll on our hearts and minds, the lyrics to this song came to me and have stuck with me this entire week....nothing really else to say

There are no more races to be run
There are no numbers left to be won
Everybody's down
We pulled each other down
There never was a truth to be found
We are all bigots so full of hatred
We release our poisons
There are no more cultures left to slide
There are no more people to be tried
We're in our minds
Five billion pieces so defined
Read it in a book, it was underlined
We are all bigots so full of hatred
We release our poisons like styrofoam

Rob

The Salads - "Today Is Your Lucky Day"

Recently flipped all the songs on my mp3 player. Love that. Every walk home now is a new adventure through great tunes. This beauty came one earlier today and I knew I was locked in.

Mr. T

Samuel L Jackson - "Nobody Gets Out Alive"

Who knew Sammy J could sing so well? Taken from the soundtrack of The Hitman's Bodyguard

G-Man

Kanye West - "Runaway"

A bit of a controversial pick here. Love him or hate him (And i'm really only commenting on his music here, not his off stage/sometimes onstage douchebaggery) Kanye's got some great tracks. Some are straight forward club joints, others are simply bizarre. With "Runaway" this is pure art. He made a 30 minute version of "Runaway" with other songs from the album mixed in, but this is just a condensed version. Still captivating.

Doug

NF - "Let You Down"

Dano

Flogging Molly - "Rare Ould Times"

Flogging Molly - "What's Left Of The Flag"

Note from G-Man: Looks like Dano is still reliving St. Patrick's Day

Jonny HP

Eric Burdon - "Sixteen Tons"

Inspired by a long hard day, day 2 of 3 of a trade show in fact. Theme song to Joe Versus The Volcano. Fuckin great flick

Rob

Nirvana - "Pennyroyal Tea"

Mr. T

Styx - "The Best Of Times"

G-Man

Metallica - "Low Man's Lyric"

1997 was 20 years ago. Crazy to think of how time marches on so fast. That means Metallica's ReLoad turns 20 this year. Plenty of great songs of the album to pick from. The lesser known "Low Man's Lyric" was always a favourite of mine from the record. It features hurdy gurdy and violin. Rare that different musicians appear on a 'Tallica track. This song can really set a somber mood.

Ween - "Buckingham Green"

Ween - "Waving My Dick In The Wind"
