Silver Silhouettes

Rob

At The Drive-In - "Invalid Letter Dept"

Going to the drive in tonight! Figured my pick was on point.

Mr. T

Bruce Springsteen - "I'm Goin' Down"

G-Man

Sasquatch - "Chemical Lady"

This is a simple pick this week. Got myself a new t-shirt of Heather Grey. To honour the new arrival, this is Sasquatch with "Chemical Lady". A grungey, sludgey rock track from a band out of Los Angeles.

Doug

STORMZY - "Superheroes"

Dano

Mastodon - "Creature Lives"

Mastodon - "Octopus Has No Friends"

They must live together

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

The Tragically Hip - "Coffee Girl"

Note From G-Man: "Great Pick!"

J.B.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth - "T.R.O.Y"

I love this track. It's got depth, experimentation (for the times) and a background story. I've always been a sucker for early 90's Hip-Hop. This was a tribute to Smooth and Rock's really good buddy who died 2 years prior. Roy and a group of buds after a show were messing around on a raised exit ramp at a stadium and he accidentally fell to his death. Pour one out for your homies and enjoy

Satanic Panic At The Disco

Rob

At The Drive-In - "Ursa Minor"

Incubus - "Glass"

Mr. T

Little River Band - "Lady"

G-Man

Alexisonfire - "Sidewalk When She Walks"

Been really having a love affair with Alexisonfire lately. These 2 songs are from their 2 strongest albums in my opinion, but they're all good really

Alexisonfire - "Keep It On Wax"

Doug

My Chemical Romance - "Welcome To The Black Parade"

Gerard Way is the lead singer of MCR and the author of the Umbrella Academy. A great graphic novel and a decent Netflix series

Dano

The Hives - "No Pun Intended"

Jonny HP

Doobie Brothers - "China Grove"

Riiiick

TBD

Mike D

Yngwie Malsteem - "Caprici Di Diablo"

Special Guest Pick!

Lady Madonna

Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers - "Born In Black"

In honour of the upcoming Toronto show!......and Black holes!

Let The Rain Become A Rhythm

Yes it's Friday the 13th, but we here at Song Of The Day make our own luck! Let's see if any of the lads are feeling superstitious as they still drop 2 picks on us in April!

Rob

At The Drive-In - "Pattern Against User"

At The Drive-In - "Cosmonaut"

Mr. T

Bruce Springsteen - "Jungleland"

Bruce Springsteen - "Blinded By The Light"

G-Man

New Found Glory - "My Friends Over You"

This one has a great video. It looks like they're legitamitely having fun in the video, which is what it should all be about. New Found Glory are a great pop-punk/emo group from the 2000's that always had that underground coolness factor, but never reached super mainstream status

New Found Glory - "It's Not Your Fault"

Purists gave this song a hard time, but to me it's a high point for New Found Glory. Insightful, mature and still holds on to their pop-punk sensibilities. Delightful

Doug

Liz Phair - "Why Can't I?"

Liz Phair - "Fuck & Run"

Dano

Clutch - "Big News I & II"

Jonny HP

Houndsmouth - "Sedona"

Houndsmouth - "For No One"

Dec 9, 2016

It's theme month December! Last week was a Dano theme and this week Rob takes us back in time. He wanted to hear about our favourite songs that were introduced to us via gift. Whether it was a new CD or a mix that someone made for us....his pick was from a CD that he borrowed from a roommate so many times that the roommate eventually just gave him the album. Let's see what it was

Rob

At The Drive-In - "Proxima Centauri"

Mr. T

The Eagles - "Pretty Maids All In A Row"

Or as Mr. T calls it "Pretty Little Maids" - G-Man

G-Man

Jakalope - "Feel It"

I went a little nuts and picked 3 songs. Usually i'm the guy who made the mix cds for people (usually ladies), because I love introducing people to new tracks. I feel it's one of my 4 purposes on this Earth. It was a fun assignment to think of times when that table was turned. One lady in my home town surprised me with a great mix and I was eager to listen to it. A few songs from that CD have become G-Man staples. The 3rd pick here is from the same mix, but Jakalope's "Feel It" holds a special place in my memory...always think of her when I hear it

Guster - "One Man Wrecking Machine"

I think I picked this one before, which is why I did a third one. This one was introduced to me via a DVD of animated music videos. Guster has since become one of my favourite acts. Thanks YP!

Finley Quaye - "Dice"

See the first write up. Sh'yeah

Doug

Maestro Fresh Wes - "Let Your Back Bone Slide"

Doug's pretty sure he got Symphony In Effect on cassette as a Christmas gift in his younger years... - G-Man

Dano

Xavier Rudd - "Message"

Dano is pretty sure both these songs were introduced to him by pretty brown haired girls. I can relate to that - G-Man

Alabama Shakes - "Hold On"
