Aphex Triplet

 Mr. T

Marshall Tucker Band - "Can't You See"

G-Man

Matthew Good Band - "Strange Days"

"Apparitions" is often seen as the Matthew Good Band's best song, and it's definitely in the conversation. "Strange Days" from their 3rd album though, really shows the maturity in style and songwriting they went through as a band, the video is great, on par with "Apparitions", and i'm sorry, but it was goddamn prophetic.

Doug

Joe Walsh - "Rocky Mountain Way"

Dano

3 Inches Of Blood - "Crazy Nights"

Jonny HP

Cold - "Remedy"

Mike D

JVKE - "Golden Hour"

J.B.

Danzig - "Malefical"

I once read a story online about a guy that lived up the street from Glen Danzig. It was too mundane and hilarious this critique about the very few run ins this guy had with his neighbour. I didn't believe it. Until Danzig sold his home, as is...with EVERYTHING in it. No question, it was THE Danzig. Here is the story. I love where this guy sleeps and the crazy stuff he had in his house....it's worth the scroll.

Death Cab For Cutie - "I will Follow You Into The Dark"

Mr. T

Josh Turner - "Cherry" (J.J. Cale Cover)

This guy has some talent!!

G-Man

Big Thief - "Shark Smile"

There is something about the way the stars align this time of the year that brings fantastic new music to my ears. Can't really give you a concrete answer as to where I this one came from recently, just stumbled ass backwards into it. It's from a few years back, and I have no idea how it got passed me. Excited to see what else these guys have

Doug

Matthew Good - "Us Remains Impossible"

Dano

Bruce Springsteen - "Mrs. McGrath"

Jonny HP

Three Dog Night - "Shambala"

Mike D

The Killers - "Caution"

J.B.

Filter - "Hey Man, Nice Shot"

Sometimes you just want to breathe smoke. This is my go to for a little shred. Anyone else piece together the 'I may hate my dad' overtones in Richard Patrick's lyrics? It's a theme I won't get into, but next time you listen to Filter, keep it in mind. You'll see. Happy Freaky Friday

Of Rabbits and Thorny Crowns

It's Easter Weekend and us hotheads here at Song Of The Day thought we'd do a week of picks inspired by such. Let's see how our newcomers fared...

Resurrection Rob

Matthew Good Band - "While We Were Hunting Rabbits"

Easter T

Dan Fogelberg - "Leader Of The Band"

Neil Young & Stephen Stills - "Long May You Run"

egG-Man

The National - "Pink Rabbits"

Thought about picking Moist - "Resurrection" which would have been a more clever pick yet obvious song, so I went with a more obvious title and a more obscure song.

Egg

U2 - "Sunday, Bloody Sunday"

Cake - "Satan Is My Motor"

First Dano Of Spring

Billie Ellish - "Bury A Friend"

Jonny Hop Pants

Depeche Mode - "Personal Jesus"

Riiiick tha Rabbit

Rappin' For Jesus

Note from G-Man: "There are just no words"

Rob

Matthew Good Band - "Look Happy, It's The End Of The World"

Mr. T

Frederick Knight - "I've Been Lonely For So Long"

G-Man

Guano Apes - "Big In Japan"

I'm heading back in time this weekend. Sort of. Going back to my hometown for to join the Ultimate Frisbee team I there in tournament warfare. That team's name is Big In Japan. So in honour of that business.....here is Germany's own Guano Apes and "Big In Japan"

Doug

Rush - "2112"

Dano

Rush - "Driven"

Note from G-Man: "Doug and Dano on the same page this week! Love it!"

Songs for the Setting Sun

Rob

Matthew Good Band - "Everything Is Automatic"

Mr. T

Styx - "Lady"

G-Man

High Holy Days - "River Of Styx"

One of the biggest bands to come out of my home town of North Bay, ON. I know it's not much, but this song was great, no matter where they came from. The remixed it for their official debut, but I prefer the one that played on North Bay radio a few years before.

Doug

Macklemore - "Drug Dealer"

Dano

Orange Goblin - "The Filthy and The Few"

Jonny HP

Alexisonfire - "Dead Hearts"

Christmas Is Creepin' In...

Rob

Matthew Good Band - "Strange Days"

Mr. Tanenbaum

Bruce Springsteen - "Merry Christmas Baby"

J. Giels Band - "Whammer Jammer"

Garland-Man

Hawksley Workman - "The Coldest Night Of The Year"

This one walks the fine line of being a Christmas song, it was included on Hawksley Workman's Christmas themed album Full Moon Eleven back in 2011. Though it's a cover of a Bruce Cockburn song which wasn't intended to be used for the holidays. It fits perfectly this time of yea though, not really happy nor sad. More introspective and isolated. Deep in self reflection among the happy masses.

Doug

Ben Folds Five - "Brick"

One of my favourite Xmas songs ;)

Dano

Estas Tonne & Reka Fodor - "Timeless Burn Out"

Jonny HP

Jimmy Eat World - "If You Don't, Don't"
