Monkey Soap

Mr. T

Jimmy Eat World - "The Middle"

G-Man

Sublime - "Same In The End"

Sublime is a unique mix of Reggae, Hip-Hop and Punk. This song definitely leans more towards the punk side of things

Doug

Ike & Tina Turner - "A Fool In Love"

Dano

Miley Cyrus - "Lilac Wine"

Jonny HP

Silent Theory - "Shaking Cages"

Mike D

Steve Aoki & Rivers Cuomo - "Earthquakey People"

J.B.

Switching it up this week with a little blast from the past

Unbeing Dead

Rob

Jimmy Eat World - "Polaris"

Mr. T

Juanes - "Dancing In The Dark"

G-Man

Morphine - "Honey White"

Some day i'll dive into the fascinating, mysterious and ultimately tragic tale of Morphine. A band from the 90's lightyears ahead of their time, yet somehow came along 40 years too late as well. "Honey White" has an instantly recognizable hook, familiar yet unplaceable.

Doug

Amos Lee - "Keep It Loose, Keep It Tight"

Dano

Crooked Still - "Railroad Bill"

Jonny HP

Mother Mother - "Hayloft"

Mike D

Judas Priestess - "The Hellion / Electric Eye"

J.B.

The Doobie Brothers - "What A Fool Believes"

Come on now, The Doobz always have a good place for a Friday. Put pm your mask, get outside and I dare ya to go for a walk to this. The world will feel all sorts of right

The End Of A Beginning

We took a week off for Christmas and now we're back with the New Years Edition of Song Of The Day Fridays!! Some of the guys are picking their favourite song from 2020, others are letting the dawn of a new year inspire their track, others are just giving 2020 a big ol' middle finger through song! There are no rules and that's how we like it! Rob's up first!!

Retrospective Rob

Jimmy Eat World - "Appreciation"

While everyone has their own thoughts and experiences through 2020, i'm gonna reflect on the positives. It's had it's ups and downs, but while looking back this has really been about searching within, while still facing so many new challenges. If you could rewind 2020 what would you do differently? My goals  = Live and Learn! Happy New Years!

Mr. Times Square

The Eagles - "Funky New Year"

G-Man's Rockin' New Years Eve

Enuff Z'Nuff - "New Thing"

One of the best songs I heard this year and no it's not a 2020 track. This one might be a surprise to some of you. Yes on the surface it doesn't immediately identify as a G-Man pick. The hair metal aesthetic of the band and even the band's name sounds like it should be printed in the bright oranges, pinks and yellows of early 90's cheese. Ordinarily, I probably wouldn't have given it a second listen, but with it being 2020 and all it's lockdown malaise...i actually found myself intrigued by this track. It's hair metaly but it isn't. It's New Agey but it isn't. It's glam but it isn't. What it is is catchy, different and uplifting. If it was released any other time but the early Nineties, we probably would have heard more from these guys

Doug-cember 31st

Taylor Swift - "New Year's Day"

Dano

Andrew WK - "Party Hard"

January HP

Korn - "Throw Me Away"

Midnight Mike D

Semisonic - "Closing Time"

J. Bubbly

Bloodhound Gang - "Fire. Water. Burn"

So since this year was such a dumpster fire in many ways, let's commemorate it with my selection. I could have gone a darker route with "Lift Your Head Up High" but hey, there were some good things. Right? Maybe? Happy New Years all and let's burn this fucker to the ground and start fresh!

Earthshine

Rob

Jimmy Eat World - "Rockstar"

Mr. T

The Who - "Join Together"

Rush - "Closer To The Heart"

In Memory of Neil

G-Man

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - "Twins"

Not exactly sure how this song came into my world. It's one of those tracks that will cycle around at about 4:30am on a drive to work and completely derail your day. A million memories and moments crammed into a 3 minute song

Rush - "Distant Early Warning"

RIP Neil Peart

Doug

The Black Keys - "Lonely Boy"

Dano

Rush - "Driven"

Rush - "YYZ"

Rush - "The Analog Kid (Live)"

Jonny HP

Mark Oliver Everett - "Fresh Blood"

Mike D

Finger Eleven - "Paralyzer"

After hearing Doug belt his heart out to it

Sea Borne Swine

Since we've just rolled the calendar over again to a new year, the Song Of The Day crew are giving up some of their most memorable tracks from the past year. Whether they were released in 2019 or not..

Rob

Jimmy Eat World - "All The Way (Stay)"

Mr. T

TBD

G-Man

Volbeat - "Last Day Under The Sun"

Just a catchy track from a band keeping rock n roll alive!

The Mountain Goats - "This Year"

I love scouring old archives of songs, deep tracks, b-sides, rare cuts that I might have missed when they were released. This is definitely a "new to me" song. From 2005

Doug

Old Dominion - "One Man Band"

Stormzy - "Vossi Bop"

Two of my favourite tracks from 2019!

Dano

Camel Driver - "Heraklion"

Hazy Sea - "And Heaven Cried The Rain"

All I could find is the full album. It's number 4 on the album Cargo Incognito. At 13:10

Jonny HP

Greta Van Fleet - "Age Of Man"

Mike D

Alessia Cara - "Rooting For You"

Special Guest Pick!

Sweet Amber

Metallica - "Sweet Amber"

Christmas Is Creepin' In...

Rob

Matthew Good Band - "Strange Days"

Mr. Tanenbaum

Bruce Springsteen - "Merry Christmas Baby"

J. Giels Band - "Whammer Jammer"

Garland-Man

Hawksley Workman - "The Coldest Night Of The Year"

This one walks the fine line of being a Christmas song, it was included on Hawksley Workman's Christmas themed album Full Moon Eleven back in 2011. Though it's a cover of a Bruce Cockburn song which wasn't intended to be used for the holidays. It fits perfectly this time of yea though, not really happy nor sad. More introspective and isolated. Deep in self reflection among the happy masses.

Doug

Ben Folds Five - "Brick"

One of my favourite Xmas songs ;)

Dano

Estas Tonne & Reka Fodor - "Timeless Burn Out"

Jonny HP

Jimmy Eat World - "If You Don't, Don't"
