Luminosity

Mr. T

Stephen Marley - "Old Soul"

G-Man

James - "Sometimes (Lester Piggot)"

LADS! Take a night and reintroduce yourself to James. Specifically their 1993 album Laid. Put it in the old CD player in the Civic on one of this week's trip to work, man, what an album. Every track a joy, different from the last and the next one just keeps the energy going! James!!

Doug

Luke Combs - "Fast Car"

Dano

Daft Punk - "Instant Crush" feat. Julian Casablancas

Hail King Julian!

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

Ed Sheeran - "A Beautiful Game"

Or should I say Ted Sheeran

J.B.

Stars - "Your Ex Lover Is Dead"

This one always brings me back to a girl that I was briefly with and things went poorly. We both let things just fade out and those 'icy cracks'....well I can still feel them today. Insane how some music can make memories so vivid.

Special Guest Pick!

Prince Cliff

David Usher - "Forest Fire"

Plastic Covered Couches

Mr. T

Otis Redding - "Down In The Valley"

G-Man

Daft Punk - "Give Life Back To Music"

Originality. Talent. Timelessness. 3 Reasons why I love Daft Punk. They never compromised. Never fell off. And when they decided they were done. They were done. Good show.

Doug

The Weeknd - "Save Your Tears" feat. Ariana Grande

This pick is based on the fact that my lady and I are about to see The Weeknd in Toronto!

Dano

Ozzy Osborne - "Bark At The Moon" (Live at Budokan Hall. Tokyo, Japan 2002"

Jonny HP

Thin Lizzy - "The Boys Are Back In Town"

Mike D

The Wanted - "Chasing The Sun"

J.B.

The Breeders - "Cannonball"

I never knew the background behind The Breeders, but recently heard this eclectic 90's grunge track. Kim Deal, the lead singer took on the band as a side project after seeing huge success with The Pixies.

Overmorrow

Rob

Coheed & Cambria - "Young Love"

Every once in a while you get the opportunity to hear a new and exciting band. I've featured alot of Coheed lately and G-Man and I even recorded our very own Balcony Boyz "Coheed Edition"!! So amazing and as always, Enjoy! www.thevoid-radio.com

Mr. T

T.Rex - "Thunderwing"

G-Man

Punch Brothers - "Julep"

I don't really know much about these guys, but I saw this video come up on my Youtube suggestions and felt like i've seen this album cover a bunch in my past. The song is an instant favourite and hopefully other songs by these guys will hold up as well

Doug

Dano

Crooked Sill - "New Railroad"

Jonny HP

J.B.

Vacations - "Relax"

The Aura Stays The Same

Rob

The Police - "Walking On The Moon"

I couldn't decide on a track from Synchronicity. Such a solid album, although Regatta de Blanc was awesome too

Mr. T

Van Morrison - "Back On Top"

G-Man

Iggy Pop & Sum 41 - "Little Know It All"

I've only recently come around to Sum 41. Was kinda put off by their quasi-forced "punk-itude" back when they first came out in the early 2000s. However, i've always loved this track. From Iggy Pop's album Skull Ring. A Santana-esque mash-up, featuring a bunch of punk acts providing the music for Pop's legendary vocals. I need more songs like this that start at 10 and end at 10. All the way through

Doug

Daft Punk - "Digital Love"

Daft Punk 1993 - 2021

Dano

The Blue Stones - "Grim"

Jonny HP

James Taylor - "Fire + Rain"

Mike D

Buddy Miles - "Them Changes"

J.B.

The Vandals - "Jackass"

The Vandals have steadily been a punk band and contributed to,not only the 90's & 2000s punk rock revival but have helped the entire scene since the 80's. More notably so with their albums prior to 2000.
Needless to say, they've put out a lot of great jams. They've seen a long line up of front and back band members, but haven't skipped and skimped when it comes to pumping out great tracks. Anyone heard of cowpunk? These guys have dabbled... This jam is one of the many great tunes that zaps me back to some good parties and feel good times. Happy Freaky Friday!

Green River Nixon

Couple new changes here at Song Of The Day Fridays! First of let's all welcome out newest song slinger Rick!! We're still trying out some handles for him, but he brings an ecclectic and unique taste in tunes! Secondly, from time to time you might see a joint-pick pop up on the blog! Two guys get together to recommend and highlight a pick! This week Rob and G-Man bring us Creed's 'My Own Prison'

Rob

The Wallflowers - "Letters From The Wasteland"

Mr. T

Orleans - "Still The One"

G-Man

Metallica - "My World"

I'm a huge Metallica fan and I love St. Anger. I know that's not a feeling that's shared even among fellow metal-heads. Hey, I get it, it's a little left of center, but I strongly feel that time will smile lovingly on this album. Even now you can see younger audiences warming up to it who weren't privy to all the swirling Metallica bashing that was trendy at the time of St. Anger's release. "My World" was never my favourite track on the album, but it grew on me. If it wasn't for it's foul-mouthed lyrics, I think it's the song from the album that would've lent itself the best to radio play.

Doug

Daft Punk - "Aerodynamic" Remix

Dano

Doc Watson - "Shady Grove"

Doc Watson - "Matty Groves"

Note from G-Man: "This guy digs groves"

Jonny HP

Volbeat - "16 Dollars"

Riiiick

Lost Boyz - "Renee"
