Mr. T TBD G-Man Sublime - "Garden Grove"
One thing I like about Sublime, when their lead singer Bradley Nowell passed away they called it quits. 3 albums. 5 years. That was Sublime. Respect. Track one off of their fantastic 1996 self-titled album was "Garden Grove". Goodage
Doug Metallica, The Roots & Jimmy Fallon - "Enter Sandman" Note from G-Man: Thanks Brother......Metallica day tomorrow!!
Dano North Mississippi AllStars - "Mississippi Bollweevil"
Mr. T TBD G-Man Leonard Cohen - "Nevermind"
There's alot going in the world these days. I had a bit of material to inspire today's pick. Donald Trump. Remembrance Day. But this, after all, is a music blog and I feel the passing of one of Canada's greats should get the nod. Not that it comes as much of a shock. Cohen himself recently mentioned that he felt his time was near and was ready, but it's still a career and catalog worthy of honouring. RIP.
Doug Pet Shop Boys - "Always On My Mind / In My House"
Mr. T Michael Jackson - "Man In The Mirror"
This song has been bouncing around in my head for a few weeks. Ow. It's carrys an all around good message and the part I like most, the uplifting melody. Easy to remember and fun to listen to.
I still think G-man may have lost a bet.
G-Man Nickelback - "If Everyone Cared"
No Mr. T and I didn't purposely both pick songs about changing the world. Sometimes the planets just line up that way. I don't subscribe to the blind hatred that Nickelback gets. It's toothless and misguided. I don't follow trends and I am not going to jump on that train. They have a wide selection of great songs. Exhibit A
Halloween is this Monday, so here at SOTD Fridays we're showcasing some of our favourite spooky songs, Halloween themed or even favourite costumed bands! Let's kick 'er off!!
Robenstein Dave Matthews Band - "Halloween"
Tracy Jordan - "Werewolf Bar Mitzah"
Mr. Trick or Treat Blue Oyster Cult - "(Don't Fear) The Reaper"
The Cramps - "Surfin' Dead"
The Edgar Winter Group - "Frankenstein"
Ghost-Man Misfits - "Scream!" Though I prefer the demo version of this song, the official video is kick ass! Made before all the recent zombie-apocalypse jerk-off fest was everywhere too. This song was written for the Scream soundtrack but not used
Cradle Of Filth - "Her Ghost In The Fog" One of the best modern metal songs out there. The song is more about avenging a murdered lover than about ghosts n' stuff, but still creepy video, creepy scary vibe. Saw these guys live on Devil's Night with Gwar back in 2007. Great show
Rob Death Cab For Cutie - "Brothers On A Hotel Bed"
Mr. T Bob Dylan - "Jokerman" Note from G-Man: "Killer!"
G-Man Metallica - "Hero Of The Day" It's so hard to pick a favourite song from you favourite band, yeah? Metallica has many songs that have topped that chart for me over the years. "Hero Of The Day" is one that can always take me back to the first time I heard this album, my year of musical enlightenment. It will always hold a special place for me.
