Where All The Rivers Run Dry

Mr. T

Buju Banton - "Untold Stories"

Glory Hallelujah-Man

The Pogues - "Fairytale Of New York"

Bittersweet pick right here. It's officially December so I can allow myself to get into the festive mood with some Xmas music, but sad news yesterday as legendary Pogues frontman Shane McGowan passes away at 65. Shocked he was only 65. Shocked he lived that long. RIP. Thanks for the beautiful art

Doug

Cake - "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps"

Bonjour from Paris!!

Dano

The Pogues - "Turkish Song Of The Damned"

For Shane McGowan

Jonny HP

Bear's Den - "Agape"

Mike D

Jacob Collier - "Witness Me" feat. Shawn Mendes, Stormzy & Kirk Franklin

Scott Helman - "Chuck Taylors"

Triple U

Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "Black Sun"

Mr. T

Santana - "Winning"

G-Man

Ween - "Tried & True"

I've been aware of Ween for a long time, but never truly gave their catalogue a fair deep dive. One thing that always impressed me from the songs I did hear, was how vastly different they all were from each other. I could queue up 10 Ween songs and, if you didn't know any better, you would say they were from 10 different artists. That is the case with their album Quebec, one of their more critically acclaim records. I'm excited to get into this, but here's a sample from the start of my Ween journey!

Doug

Weezer - "Enter Sandman"

Dano

Mastodon - "Pushing The Tides"

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

Mom Jeans - "Girl Scout Cookies"

J.B.

Wall Of Voodoo - "Mexican Radio"

It had to be done. It's Friday and to celebrate our good friend G-Man's birthday here is a classic. Just like you buddy

Amberbite

Today marks the first day of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. It will be every September 30th from here on out. A day to reflect and learn about our Indigenous brothers and sisters and the struggles they've endured for generations. #everychildmatters

Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "Monday Morning"

Mr. T

Little Steven and The Disciples Of Sound - "Until The Good Is Gone"

G-Man

Stone Sour - "Zzyzx Rd"

This song takes me right back to 2006. Right in the thick of it. Fantastic deep track from Corey Taylor's other band Stone Sour.

Link Wray - "Rumble"

In honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day, here is Link Wray with a hit from early in his career. It came out later that he was encouraged to downplay his Native American heritage in order to become successful. Rest easy Link

Doug

Tyler Shaw - "To The Man Who Let Her Go"

Dano

Primus - "Silly Putty"

Jonny HP

Don Henley - "Boys Of Summer"

Mike D

Oh Wonder - "22 Break"

J.B.

Halluci Nation - "R.E.D" feat. Yasiin Bey, Narcy and Black Bear

A little recognition, representation and flavour for the day. Thoughts, gratitude and prayers are with those struggling and those that have

Hecatomb

 Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "I will Follow You Into The Dark"

Mr. T

Josh Turner - "Cherry" (J.J. Cale Cover)

This guy has some talent!!

G-Man

Big Thief - "Shark Smile"

There is something about the way the stars align this time of the year that brings fantastic new music to my ears. Can't really give you a concrete answer as to where I this one came from recently, just stumbled ass backwards into it. It's from a few years back, and I have no idea how it got passed me. Excited to see what else these guys have

Doug

Matthew Good - "Us Remains Impossible"

Dano

Bruce Springsteen - "Mrs. McGrath"

Jonny HP

Three Dog Night - "Shambala"

Mike D

The Killers - "Caution"

J.B.

Filter - "Hey Man, Nice Shot"

Sometimes you just want to breathe smoke. This is my go to for a little shred. Anyone else piece together the 'I may hate my dad' overtones in Richard Patrick's lyrics? It's a theme I won't get into, but next time you listen to Filter, keep it in mind. You'll see. Happy Freaky Friday

Chagrin

Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "Bad Reputation"

Mr. T

Todd Rungren - "Tin Foil Hat" feat. Donald Fagen

G-Man

Mischief Brew - "Olde Tyme Mem'ry"

Mischief Brew's "Roll Me Through The Gates Of Hell" is essentially my Ocktober anthem. And for a long time that was the only song I knew by the man also known as Erik Petersen. It's the only song I felt I needed to know, because it's held in such high esteem by myself. This song then came on my suggested videos list the other day. It left me dumbfounded. Happy Rocktober everyone. We're just getting warm

Doug

Matt Mays - "City Of Lakes"

Dano

Grady - "Three Legged Race"

Jonny HP

Mudmen - "5 O'Clock"

Mike D

Daughter - "The Right Way Around"

J.B.

Mission Of Burma - "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate"

Wow, this band shouldn't get much introduction and I completely forgot about them. A post-punk/indie band right out of Boston dredges the depths of the punk sound I like to hear. They've been around a long, long time and deserve more airtime and accolades. They released their final album in 2012 and sadly, only recently called it quits. RIP MOB, i'll still have you on repeat.

Slate Unclean

Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "Cath"

Mr. T

The Coasters - "Yakety Yak"

G-Man

Cauterize - "Choke"

I remember this band back when they were known as T.O.E. Thought they had a ton of potential for a Hard Rock group from Oshawa, Ontario. Looks like they changed their name to Cauterize and broke up shortly after. At least they have this one fantastic album as their legacy. Tons of great tracks on it

Doug

Whitney Houston - "How Will I Know" (Junior Vasquez Remix)

Dano

Big Sugar - "Heart Refuse To Pound"

Jonny HP

Badflower - "30"

Mike D

Juice WRLD - "Wishing Well"

J.B.

The Get Up Kids - "Mass Pike"

Everytime I hear The Get Up Kids or one of their many off shoot "Projects" it sends me to my 20s. While the band saw limited mainstream success in the early to mid 2000s I feel they missed the boat due to the scream-o/pop-punk saturating the airwaves at the time. But, after 2 decades they returned last year and released a new album and their sound has matured, it's still an unfettered pleaser. Enjoy and happy Friday kidz.

Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "Long Division"

Mr. T

Robert John - "Sad Eyes"

G-Man

Baroness - "Borderlines"

It's official! A new Baroness album is coming out June 14th. Many speculated about the colour of the album and it appears the answer is Gold & Grey. Badass. First single was released today! Check it out

Doug

TBD

Dano

Green Day - "J.A.R (Jason Andrew Relva)"

Irish Descendants - "Rocky Road To Dublin"

Jonny HP

Chilliwack - "Lonesome Mary"

Dedicated to the spouses that have to deal with their partner working away a lot.

Riiiick

Pharoahe Monch - "Simon Says"

Staring Locations

Well after a 3 week vacation for the boys at Song Of The Day Friday we are back and ready to roll! Since we've missed some prime musical opportunities over the Holiday some of the lads are picking 3 songs this week! Rob, get us goin!

Rob

Collective Soul - "Breathe"

Death Cab For Cutie - "Northern Lights"

Amos The Transparent - "Coming Home"

Mr. T

Max Webster - "Diamonds Diamonds"

G-Man

A Perfect Circle - "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish"

A new album from APC has fans and casual listeners divided. The title of this song is an allusion to the Hitch Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy, which is what initially got me intrigued

Filter - "Where Do We Go From Here"

A Mild hit in the early to mid 2000's but I love it. This is what Song Of The Day is all about. Business like this.

Wolfpack - Wish

Picked up these guys' LP Lycanthrope Punk while I was in New Zealand, though I don't think they are Kiwis. I couldn't find much info on these guys. This is from 1998 and it just kicks it.

Doug

Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Dano

Mandolin Orange - "Boots Of Spanish Leather"

The Tea Party - "Black River"

Lana Del Rey - "Hope Is A Dangerous Thing"

Jonny HP

Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels - "Jenny Take A Ride (CC Rider)

Lovelytheband - "Broken"

Green Lung - "Lady Lucifer"

Rob

Death Cab For Cutie - "Cath"

Mr. T

Pete Wingfield - "Eighteen With A Bullet"

G-Man

Something Corporate - "Punk Rock Princess"

Been recently going through some killer tracks from my youth. There was a time when I considered this edgy and punk. Now I just consider it a reminder of simpler, wonderful times. Still a fantastic track.

Doug

Prince - "Little Red Corvette"

If Prince were still alive, today would be his 60th birthday. RIP

Dano

Death Angel - "Dream Calls For Blood"

Jonny HP

Depeche Mode - "Wrong"
