Ageless Icons

 Mr. T

AC/DC - "High Voltage"

No power Song of the Day!

G-Man

Stiff Little Fingers - "Alternative Ulster"

Great classic punk song from a great Irish punk band!

The Arcade Fire - "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)"

As you can see from Mr. T's pick above, some of us here in the Ottawa Valley are dealing with power outages due to an Ice Storm in FUCKING APRIL!!! Nowhere near as devastating as the Ice Storm that knocked us out for weeks almost months back in 1998, but it is bringing back some memories. Some of the Canadian members of the Arcade Fire experienced that Storm as well and wrote a song about their memories.

Doug

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats - "S.O.B"

Dano

Death From Above 1979 - "Freeze Me"

Jonny HP

Future Leaders Of The World - "Let Me Out"

Water, Wood and Hill

Rob

Dave Matthews Band - "The Best Of What's Around"

Mr. T

Wayne Wonder and Mr G - "Tuff Times"

G-Man

Cigarettes After Sex - "Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby"

Some songs just hit you differently after becoming a father.

Doug

AC/DC - "You Shook Me All Night Long"

Dano

Larkin Poe - "Sometimes"

Larkin Poe - "Blunt"

I Always seem to listen to these two back to back. They just fit

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

The Weeknd - "Gasoline"

J.B.

Goodie Mob - "Thought Process"

In the early, mid and late 90's one could make the argument that some of the best hip hop conglomerations could be found there. One of these phenomenal colabs is Goodie Mob. Cee-Lo (early years for sure, before his more poppy tunes came in) and even more notably, Outkast. Love this rich era of hip hop experimentation and dark lyrics.

Taken By The Last Pawn

 Rob

Third Eye Blind - "Semi Charmed Life"

Mr. T

AC/DC - "Money Talks"

G-Man

Bruce Cockburn - "Wondering Where The Lions Are"

He's often over looked save for a few tracks, but why wasn't Bruce Cockburn better known? Even in his native Canada you don't hear much, if any of his stuff in the day to day. Catchy tunes and clever writing, kind of like Canada's Paul Simon. "Wondering Where The Lions Are" should be a track one on a 20 track "Best Of" Cockburn's tunes

Doug

The Blue Stones - "Let It Ride"

Dano

I Mother Earth - "Used To Be Alright"

Jonny HP

Pearl Jam - "Yellow Ledbetter"

Mike D

TBD

J.B.

Snuff - "All You Need"

So here's a band I forgot about for a very long time. Snuff's been around since the mid 80's and aparently still putting out albums. I'd like to say that I was rad enough to have listened to them then, but i'm not that old or cool. Let's face it though, punk in general has changed  or maybe even melded into what pop rock became in the early 2000s. I miss those old days and this definitely takes me back

Peering Through The Port Holes

Rob

Jane's Addiction - "Just Because"

Mr. T

Bash & Pop - "Bad News"

G-Man

Elliott Smith - "2:45am"

Lately one of my favourite times to listen to music is early Saturday mornings. A time typically reserved for sleeping in. It's nice to spin some easy going, retrospective tracks with a mug of joe. I realize this song's title is a time of day that doesn't add up, but the vibe fits perfectly.

Doug

AC/DC - "Highway To Hell"

We should have used the recent heat wave as a theme for this week! Stay cool brothers!

Dano

Everything Everything - "Arch Enemy"

Jonny HP

TBA

Mike D

Kim  Mitchell - "Patio Lanterns"

Rocktober Part 1: Immolation

October is the best goddamned month on all of Earth. So in celebration all month long, we're picking nothing but the best goddamned songs ever recorded.

Rob

Metallica - "The Unforgiven II"

Mr. T

AC/DC - "Highway To Hell"

G-Man

PUP - "Reservoir"

This is a newish one to me. I knew of PUP, but didn't quite know how friggin good their self-titled debut was gonna be. Picked it up earlier this month. Bashers.

Metallica - "The Shortest Straw"

I like Rob's taste. Really I could've picked any song from Metallica....Rocktober baby...saw them live TWICE back in Rocktober '09. This song was in my head earlier....bang

Doug

The Tragically Hip - "New Orleans Is Sinking"

Dano

Clutch - "Mercury"

Jonny HP

Fidlar - "Too Real"

Songs Marching Forward Into...

Rob

Foo Fighters - "Breakout"

Mr. T

Hank Williams Jr. - "Family Tradition"

G-Man

Atmosphere - "The Waitress"

Was chatting with Dano about this one earlier today. Great track, which also features one of my favourite artists Tom Waits. You can faintly hear him doing some beat boxing over the track. I love how unassuming that is for a great, well known artist. When hes featured on a song, he doesn't need to be front and centre, just as long as it adds something cool to the track

The Beach Boys - "Kokomo"

You don't need to ask. You already know. Get there fast and take it slow.

Doug

Spirit Of The West - "Home For A Rest"

AC/DC - "You Shook Me All Night Long"

Dano

The Knife - "We Share Our Mother's Health"

Jonny HP

Nine Inch Nails - "Starfuckers, INC."

There is always a time and place for sad songs. It does not mean I am sad.

Millencolin - "The Ballad"

There is always a time and place for depressing songs. It does not mean I am depressed

Doug
