Lust Capsule

Rob

TBD

Mr. T

Nelly Furtado - "Parking Lot"

G-Man

Goo Goo Dolls - "Black Balloon"

Always been a fan of John Rzeznik's writing skills. Some of the best and most indelible 90's alt-rock songs came from the Goo Goo Dolls. This was the fourth, I think, single from Dizzy Up The Girl, but I also enjoyed it the most. Listening to it again after all these years, really see it in a different light. 20 plus years, faded away so fast

Doug

Onyx - "Slam"

Dano

The Wailin' Jennys - "The Devil's Paintbrush Road"

Jonny HP

Plague Vendor - "Locomotive"

Mike D

The Halluci Nation - "Land Back" feat. The Beat & A Northern Voice

J.B.

Alfa Mist - "Mind The Gap" feat. Lex Amor

If you're looking for some Acid Jazz escapes, definitely check out Alfa Mist. Actually, even if you aren't an Acid Jazz aficiando, fear not. There is a place for you here.

Plasticine Privilege

Rob

TBA

Mr. T

Styx - "Blue Collar Man"

G-Man

Prong - "Revenge...Best Served Cold"

Love going down musical rabbit holes and seeing a band's name that I completely forgot existed. Prong were in the same circles as Type O Negative, Therapy? and Helmet in the 90's. Though this track is from a later album in 2012, they didn't lose their edge. Love the guitar tones in this one!

Doug

Imagine Dragons x JID - "Enemy"

Dano

Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy"

Jonny HP

Metallica - "Creeping Death"

Mike D

Katy Perry - "One Of The Boys"

Lights - "Running With The Boys"

J.B.

The War On Drugs - "Under The Pressure"

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

You all good out there? Another St. Patrick's Day is in the books and this one might have had a different feel from the last few as COVID restrictions are finally beginning to ease. Some of your favourite watering holes and juke joints may have been rejuvinated with the sounds of merry men and women once again. Let's see how the Song Of The Day boys celebrated...

Rob

TBD

Mr. T

The Irish Rovers - "Black Velvet Band"

G-Man

High Contrast - "Racing Green"

Maybe not a song that typically comes to mind when thinking about St Paddy's Day music, but it's one of the best songs i've been introduced to recently and hey, it's got Green in it's title!

Doug

Bing Crosby - "McNamara's Band"

Dano

The Town Pants - "New South Wales"

Jonny HP

Cutting Crew - "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight"

Catchy as fuck. Good luck not singing along

Mike D

Lights - "In My Head" feat. Josh Dun

J.B.

Faithless - "Woozy"

Faithless got their start back in 1994 and have been pumping out jams that have catered more to the Euro Dance scene. Albeit, they're worth a listen to and a deeper dive into their catalog is bound to leave you with a few new favourites

Black Uhuru - "Sponji Reggae"

G-Man

Alice In Chains - "Rooster"

Saw this video again the other day. Hadn't seen it probably since I was a teenager. Just hit me different this time around. Words, images, actions, thoughts, sounds. Are all hitting different this time around.

Dano

Scissor Sisters - "I Can't Decide"

Jonny HP

Foals - "2am"

 Rob

TBD

Mr. T

Christina Aguilera - "Come On Over"

G-Man

The Hives - "A.K.A I-D-I-O-T"

I didn't even know this album existed until recently. Guess I never dove too deep into The Hives, but man.... i'm telling ya. This song has whatever it is you need to get there. Love the youthful energy, the raw feel and unpolished punk awesomeness. Enjoy!

Doug

Bush - "Machinehead"

Funny thing about this pick is I got it mixed up with an Econoline Crush video. Figured it out though

Dano

Lorde - "Bravado"

Jonny HP

Coheed & Cambria - "The Liar's Club"

Slaves - "The Hunter"

Mike D

Alessia Cara & The Warning - "Enter Sandman"

J.B

US3 - "Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)"

Cryoseism

Rob

Better Than Ezra - "In The Blood"

Mr. T

Marc Ribler - "This Is How The Song Goes"

G-Man

Queens Of The Stone Age - "In The Fade"

You may not know his name but i'm sure you've heard Mark Lanegan's music. Lead singer of The Screaming Trees, founding member of Queens Of The Stone Age, a series of albums with Isobel Campbell of Belle & Sebastien, and of course, a prolific solo career. He passed away this week at the young age of 57. If you're into some dark, but well written music, give his catalog a listen. RIP Mark

Doug

Sam Hunt - "Breaking Up Was Easy In The 90's"

Dano

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - "Revolver"

These were the hardest picks without going with 12 of his tracks. The evil and the pretty in equal parts. That was Mark Lanegan

Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - "Honey Child What Can I Do"

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

Muse - "Stockholm Syndrome"

As a tribute to one of the first songs I heard from them back in the Guitar Hero 3 Days

J.B.

Shakey Graves - "Late July"

Dead Immortal

 Rob

TBD

Mr. T

Reuben Wilson - "Inner City Blues"

G-Man

Fountains Of Wayne - "Troubled Times"

These days The Fountains Of Wayne are sadly mainly known for a novelty song at best in "Stacy's Mom". Pretty much the only time someone brings that song up these days is to tell you the long hanging fruit story of how it was initially written as "Stacy's Grandma". Take me back to 1999 though, with the release of Utopia Pkwy. There amongst some forgotten 90's Indie revelry is "Troubled Times" one of the best, most underappreciated tunes from the decade. Whimsical and melancholy, all the while possessing some of the most endearing chord progressions and melodies of all modern music. You may have to listen to it a few times, but with any luck, this will become one of your new "go to" tracks. Happy Friday!

Doug

Nickelback - "How You Remind Me" (DJ Depa Remix)

Dano

Santigold - "Disperate Youth"

Jonny HP

TBD

Mike D

Hole - "Celebrity Skin"

J.B.

Aphex Twin - "Alberto Balsalm"
