No Doubt - "Simple Kind Of Life"
This was going to be my pick before I heard the Wilco one this morning, but still thought I should give this one it's moment. Totally forgot about this track until I saw the video last night. Nothing's tougher for a band than trying to follow up a smash album. For No Doubt 1996's Tragic Kingdom made them (and singer Gwen Stefani)overnight sensations. It took them 4 years to come out with their next album Return Of Saturn. I always enjoyed it and thought it didn't get enough respect. I think this song gets forgotten, but it's a well written, well crafted alt-rock song. One of No Doubt's best.
