Variant Ally

Mr. T

Maren Morris - "My Church"

G-Man

Black Flag - "Police Story"

It might not be polished and at times sounds like an ungodly mess, but if you're curious about getting into classic punk rock, I mean right at the roots, you should think about starting with Black Flag Damaged. 'Police Story' isn't the album's shining moment, but there's something about the venom behind Henry Rollins spitting out "They hate us; We hate them", a movement was born that day.

Doug

Venbee - "Messy In Heaven"

Dano

Jerry Cantrell - "My Song"

Jonny HP

Slipknot - "Psychosocial"

Mike D

Tenacious D - "Master Exploder"

J.B.

Lord Huron - "Ghost On The Shore"

Teal. But Not The Colour

 Mr. T

Frankie Valli - "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You"

G-Man

Bruce Hornsby - "Walk In The Sun"

6AM. A cool early August morning. I set out on my daily commute. Windows down. The highway yawns, flanked by green and yellow farmlands. A hazy Sun bathes the low hanging clouds in grey and gold. The opening bars of this song parade through my car speakers. My eyes narrow and I give a rare slight smile. Some days it's just wonderful to be alive

Doug

Tom Waits - "Hell Broke Luce"

Dano

Adele - "Set Fire To The Rain"

Jonny HP

Travis - "Why Does It Always Rain On Me?"

The Big Groovy

It's a long weekend!! Hope it's filled with Sunshine, good drink and fantastic tunes! Here's 7 of our finest picks to get you started! Mr. T...you're up!

 Mr. T

U2 - "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"

G-Man

Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp - "A Song For Miss Hedy Lamarr"

Here's a bit of a switcheroo....ol' G-Man picking a new track! Jeff Beck is musical royalty being one of the creative forces behind The Yardbirds, which also fetured Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. Johnny Depp, has been in the news quite a bit lately it seems, but not for his musical talent. Still can't decide if this song is brilliant or something else...

Doug

Robbie Doherty - "Pour The Milk"

Dano

Steph Cameron - "Sad-Eyed Lonesome Lady"

Jonny HP

Slipknot - "Eyeless"

Mike D

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Black Summer"

J.B.

Bouncing Souls - "True Believers"

Coat Of Legs

Mr. T

Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers - "One Bright Day"

G-Man

He Is Legend - "The Seduction"

Except maybe Dano, I might be the only Song Of The Day member who truly appreciates the "Screamo" genre, that reached it's apex in the mid to late 2000's. I made a Mixed CD around that time off all my faves and I still think about and listen to those songs all the time. This one was I think maybe the last track on that burnt beauty, which is a slot almost as important as track 1.

Doug

The Beatnuts - "Se Acabo" feat. Method Man

Dano

INXS - "Guns In The Sky"

INXS - "Devil Inside"

Since "Guns In The Sky" always feels just like an intro, I figured it needed a follower

Jonny HP

Midnight Oil - "Beds Are Burning"

Mike D

thenewno2 - "Crazy Tuesday"

J.B.

Peach Pit - "Up Granville"

Hailing from Vancouver, Peach Pit have a genuine West Coast sound. Self categorized as "Chewed Bubblegum Pop"...and i'm still trying to figure that out. Typically Indie Bands seldom self identify as "pop". I definitely only hear a unique sound I think you'll appreciate. Have a good May 2-4!

Special Guest Pick!

Kyla

Papa Roach - "No Apologies"

Monsters Fear The Welcome & Warm

Rob

Chevelle - "The Red"

Mr. T

Otis Taylor - "Ten Million Slaves"

G-Man

The Fall Of Troy - "F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X"

I fookin' love when the lead singer also shreds on guitar in a band. Such is the case with Fall Of Troy. I love the part that starts around the 3 minute mark, especially the bass pulls. One of my all time faves.

Doug

Spirit Of The West - "Home For A Rest"

Dano

Green Lung - "Lady Lucifer"

Jonny HP

Gwar - "Immortal Corruptor"

Note from G-Man: Holy Fuck Yes It All

Women and Children Last...

Rob

Dave Matthews Band - "Satellite"

Note from G-Man: Third week in a row featuring DMB!!

Mr. T

Mr. T is giving us a Summer Time triple pick! Hot weather, hot picks! Lay 'em on us son!

Rod Stewart - "Maggie May"

Rod Stewart - "Gasoline Alley"

Don Henley - "Boys Of Summer"

Note from G-Man: Rod, Rod & Don!!

G-Man

Slipknot - "Surfacing"

Ever have one of those days? Seriously, fuck today forever.

Doug

DJ Shadow - "Nobody Speak" feat. Run The Jewels

I almost picked another Ed Sheeran song just to be a dick

Dano

Murderdolls - "Rock n Roll Is All I Got"

Jonny HP

Guns N Roses - "You Could Be Mine"

Two Songs From Each Artist For A Long-ish Weekend!

Some of the lads have chosen to ring in the long weekend with double picks of great artists! Let's see what they got! Rob, you're up!

Rob

Collective Soul - "Precious Declaration"

Collective Soul - "Gel"

Mr. T

TBD

G-Man

311 - "Transistor"

311 are a great band. A unique style that's difficult to pin down and several great albums with all kinds of singles off each to choose from. I'll always remember Transistor because it was the first album i knew of that had like 21 tracks. They said those extra 10 tracks were a gift to the fans. Why not?

311 - "You Wouldn't Believe"

In the 90's I felt I was late to the 311 party. Then when I hit college this track came about. I'm glad I was aware of the greatness of 311 at the time

Doug

Sturgill Simpson - "In Bloom"

Dano

Beck - "Que Onda Guero"

Beck - "Hell Yes"

Johnny HP

The Watchmen - "Absolutely Anytime"

The Watchmen - "34 Dead St."

Play this one as loud as the speakers will go! God damn I love this song!!
